It’s still 10 more days before the official project start, but my goal is to have the character ready for animation before then. We’ve made significant progress in creating our character, Laura, using a combination of Midjourney, Canva, and Pixlr. It all started with generating the perfect profile image of Laura using Midjourney. With a combination of a lot, a lot of prompting, panning down, zooming out and using region edit, we got her ideal look and pose for use in the game.

Now, we’re in the process of making the cutout to make her suitable for animation. We’re at the point where we need to create all visemes and in-between animations into a sprite sheet. Drawing isn’t one of my primary skills, so this will require a lot of focus from me.
While I’ve had enough negative experiences on Fiverr to make me hesitant to use it again, I found myself searching the platform for someone who could draw the mouth animations for me. Fortunately, I didn’t find anyone I felt comfortable with. I do think I’ve generated enough images of Laura to be able to handle the mouth animations myself. I just need to tap into the 16 year old version of myself that was a little more capable when it comes to image editing!
Stay tuned for more updates on our progress with Laura!
